I was raised in a very Catholic community, where everything from how you vote to the HPV vaccine to how you SUFFER was influenced by religious dogma. A thought-terminating cliche I heard all the time was “offer it up” - as in offer up your suffering as your cross to bear. Your husband cheated on you? Offer it up. You’re struggling with being a new mom? Offer it up. You’re crying in 8th grade religion because you have a fractured spine and it hurts to sit in these cold ass desks (ahem, me)? Offer it up!
I upgraded my subscription JUST so I could comment on this. As a giant fan of both cultish and the bechdel cast, may I also suggest the cult of titanic girlies? I know you didn’t ask for additional suggestions but there are no two people better suited to discuss that topic than Caitlin and Jamie and it’s leo adjacent. (But also v much here for Leo and the possible discourse of Leo in water in clothes).
