I don’t even remember the last time I read so many slam dunk books in a row for pleasure before January of this year. Maybe never? 2023 was a pretty underwhelming reading year for me. Almost every attempt I made to fall in love with a book fell flat—I didn’t read one single thing that truly moved me last year except for finally getting to The Secret History by Donna Tartt, which, hello, if that book doesn’t move you, you might want to consult a cardiologist.
By contrast, everything I’ve read so far in 2024 has resurrected me from that grim spell of DNFing sluggish novels and voiceless nonfiction. To the point that I’ve been near-stalking these authors and shamelessly fangirling at them. It’s an auspicious sign for the rest of the year lol! Here are some pics and short descriptions of me thoroughly enjoying my reading life thus far in 2024.
