Feeling sad and weird in Italy

Meteoropatia: This was a new Italian word for me. It describes the melancholy effects of bad weather on one’s mood (like seasonal depression, but a little more applicable to everyday feelings). I learned the word about a week after arriving in Bologna, my “happy place,” where it rained the first few days, which only reminded me of the rain that was already falling in my brain. Wherever you go, there you are, right?
