Judging a book by its cover is an impulse so deeply embedded in the human soul that advising people to rise above it and have the patience to explore what’s underneath has become a hackneyed expression. But, alas, we do judge books by their covers. They’re artwork, they’re objects, they’re invitations to keep looking. For me, they’re also the North Star that guides the entire aesthetic world of a book. And I get really into the design process. You might even say I overthink it. But so far, that’s been worth it.
